Performance Insights:
This load delivers exceptional accuracy and terminal performance. The 90gr A-Tip® bullet offers reliable expansion at extended distances, making it ideal for deer hunting with the 22 Creedmoor while also providing excellent long-range shooting characteristics.
Twist Rate Testing Observations:
While the 1:7 twist is optimal, we've observed surprisingly solid groupings at 100 yards even from a 1:9 twist barrel—not recommended for extended-range use, but acceptable for hunting within typical distances. In 1:8 twist setups, particularly with barrels 18" and longer, we recorded consistently tight groups out to 600 yards. This was tested at our 2,550 ft elevation, and should translate well for most hunting situations. Though 1:8 may not be perfect for extreme long-range plinking, we’re continuing evaluations to better define its limits. Overall, this load has proven extremely forgiving and shoots fantastic in everything we’ve tested—within reasonable barrel specs.
Component Highlights:
-
Hornady 90gr A-Tip® Match Bullet: Precision-machined aluminum tip enhances inflight stability and reduces drag variability for excellent long-range consistency.
-
Alpha Munitions OCD Brass: Built with Optimized Case Design technology, this brass ensures tight tolerances in neck tension, volume, and flash hole uniformity—supporting exceptional consistency and longevity.
Manufacturing Process:
Every round is hand-built using temperature-insensitive powders that are individually weighed—nearly to the kernel—for maximum precision. Primers are hand-seated to uniform depth. Each box is loaded from a single batch of components (one lot of bullets, powder, primers, and brass), then assembled on a precision single-stage press. This process ensures the highest possible uniformity.
Testing Data:
In over 10-shot strings, we've consistently recorded single-digit standard deviations (SDs). The highest we've seen is 11 fps—and that was from a heavily worn barrel. For well-maintained rifles, single-digit SDs are the norm, supporting both accuracy and predictable external ballistics.
Accuracy & Consistency:
We consistently observe single-digit SDs in 10-shot groups across properly maintained rifles. The highest recorded SD in our testing was 11 fps, from a worn-out barrel—highlighting the forgiving nature and stability of this load.
Platform & Fitment Notes:
This offering is intended for bolt-action rifles only, due to slightly elevated pressure loads and lack of gas gun testing. The 2.610" overall length fits all AICS-pattern magazines. We’ve verified chamber compatibility in most modern 22 Creedmoor chambers, with no feed or function issues. However, due to the variety of custom chamber jobs out there, users with short-throated chambers should verify fitment and pressure signs before extended use.
Care & Maintenance Tips:
The 22 Creedmoor is known to develop carbon rings, which can lead to pressure issues if not properly maintained. For best performance and safety:
-
Clean your barrel thoroughly every 100 rounds
-
Regularly disassemble and clean your bolt
-
Inspect for buildup, especially around the throat and leade
Safety and Compliance:
-
Age Restriction: Must be 18 years or older to purchase.
-
Legal Compliance: Always comply with federal, state, and local laws regarding ammunition purchases.
-
Safety Notice: Discontinue use if signs of excess pressure are observed in your rifle and consult a qualified armorer or gunsmith
