6mm ARC Hornady 80 gr ELDVT

While we are happy Hornady finally got the 80 GR ELDVT to the market. We have seen in certain circumstances this offering fails to properly cycle in certain platforms. As you may or may not know we are currently testing many different buffer length and weight systems in the ar -15 platform for the 6mm arc. We seen during our extreme amount of testing the Hornady 80 gr. eldvt fail to feed in certain configurations. As well as keeping an eye on what is happening in the world, we've received reports of this happening. That said, in most circumstances when running traditional suppressors the back pressure is increased enough for this to not happen. Weve seen ours elves it not have enough back pressure with flow through suppressors to allow the rifle to properly cycle. More in depth, it would kick out spent cartridge, yet fail to pick up next cartridge. All other things being accounted for we determined this to be the problem. This happened on a 14.5 barrel with a mid length gas system and a .07 gas port size. After testing several different configurations of buffer weights down to a h , the port size simply would not support that ammo in this particular configuration. So, we just opened the gas port up to .097. No big deal, especially considering it is better to have more gas than less. We can simply just fine tune our gas via the Superlative arms bleed off gas block . This completely alleviated the issue. We offer both the 80 gr. eldvt and the gas blocks here on the website. Stand by for more in depth information of tuning of the 6mm Arc.
