RUGER AMERICAN UPGRADES

Tested. Proven. Built Around One of America's Favorite Budget Rifles.

The Ruger American has become one of the most popular factory rifles on the market, and for good reason.
While the price has gradually increased over the years, it continues to offer something that's becoming harder to find: a reasonably priced factory rifle that often shoots exceptionally well.
Ruger has also done an excellent job of keeping up with modern cartridge offerings. Whether it's .22 ARC, 6mm ARC, 6.5 Creedmoor, .308 Winchester, or many of today's other popular chamberings, the Ruger American has become an entry point into precision shooting for many shooters while remaining a dependable hunting rifle.
Perhaps more importantly, it's a rifle most of us don't mind actually using.
Carry it through mesquite. Throw it in the truck. Drag it across a fence crossing. Take it on a week-long predator hunt.
It's a hard-working rifle that simply gets the job done.

THE ALLY MUNITIONS PHILOSOPHY

One thing we've always believed at Ally Munitions is that our ammunition should be tested in the same rifles our customers actually own.
We don't develop loads in laboratory barrel fixtures, and we don't chase velocity from custom test barrels that our customers will never own.
Instead, we spend countless hours testing our ammunition in production rifles using the suppressors, optics, and accessories shooters are actually taking into the field.
Naturally, that means we spend a tremendous amount of time evaluating factory rifles.
Over time, certain things become obvious. Some rifles benefit tremendously from a better trigger. Others deserve a better stock or chassis. Sometimes a relatively simple accessory can make a meaningful improvement in how the rifle performs or interfaces with the shooter.
Since we're already doing that testing for ourselves, it only makes sense to make those findings available to our customers.
These aren't random parts we've decided to sell. They're products we've personally installed, tested, hunted with, and evaluated before recommending them.
Some are available individually. Others are combined into upgrade packages to take some of the guesswork out of figuring out what works well together.
Our goal is simple:
Take an already good rifle and make it even better.

RUGER AMERICAN UPGRADE KITS

Our Ruger American Upgrade Kits combine components we've personally vetted into packages built around different uses.
Whether you're putting together a lightweight hunting rifle, a more precision-oriented rifle, or something capable of doing a little of both, each package takes a different approach.
Every component is there because we believe it adds something meaningful to the rifle.

UPGRADE KIT 1

KRG Bravo Package – Short Action – Right Hand

Upgrade Kit 1 is built around one of our favorite chassis systems we've used: the Kinetic Research Group Bravo.
We've been running Bravo chassis on multiple rifles for years, and they continue to impress us with their balance of simplicity, ergonomics, durability, and real-world performance.
The Bravo transforms the Ruger American into a modular precision platform while maintaining handling characteristics that work well for hunting applications.
Whether you're chasing coyotes, shooting steel, or putting together a rifle capable of doing a little of everything, this is an excellent place to start.

ALLY MUNITIONS NOTES

If someone asked us where to start when upgrading a Ruger American, this would probably be our first recommendation.
The Bravo has proven itself over the years as one of the best values we've found in the precision-rifle world.
It isn't flashy. It isn't overly complicated. It simply works.
The ergonomics are excellent, the bedding system is extremely solid, and the rifle immediately feels more substantial without becoming excessively heavy.
We've hunted predators, shot steel, and spent countless hours behind Bravo-equipped rifles, and they continue to earn our respect.
The full-length ARCA rail dramatically increases versatility by allowing quick attachment to tripods and support equipment, while the included QD sling cup adds flexibility when configuring the rifle for hunting or competition.
If you're only going to upgrade one thing on your Ruger American, we'd strongly consider making it this.

KRG BRAVO COMPATIBILITY

  • Ruger American Short Action
  • Right-Hand Actions
  • Gen 1
  • Gen 2
    Uses AICS-pattern magazines only.

ARC COMPATIBILITY NOTES

The KRG Bravo utilizes AICS-pattern magazines.
We've personally tested both .22 ARC and 6mm ARC in this system with excellent results, particularly in Gen 2 Predator rifles and 20-inch barrel configurations.
However, because ARC cartridges were never the original design intent of the AICS magazine system, compatibility can vary depending on the rifle, bolt geometry, and magazine.
Our best results have been achieved using:

  • MDT 10-Round Metal AICS Magazines
  • Magpul AICS Magazines
Both are available separately through Ally Munitions.

SUPPORTED CARTRIDGES

Examples include:

  • .308 Winchester
  • 6.5 Creedmoor
  • .243 Winchester
  • 6 Creedmoor
  • .22 Creedmoor
Along with many other Ruger American short-action chamberings.

KRG BRAVO INSTALLATION

The KRG Bravo is a true drop-in chassis.
Installation typically takes less than fifteen minutes using basic hand tools, and no gunsmithing is required.

KRG BRAVO ACCESSORIES

Sobchak Security Old Hickory Riser

The Sobchak Security Old Hickory is a handmade walnut riser designed specifically for the KRG Bravo, providing a negative comb along with an old-school wood finish.
Sobchak uses carbon-fiber legs to reduce weight, making the Old Hickory slightly lighter than the factory option. We've found the negative-comb design beneficial for staying in the scope and maintaining a consistent sight picture through recoil.
Installation Note: The adjustment legs are carbon fiber. Do not overtighten the riser in the stock. Excessive clamping pressure can crush or shatter the carbon-fiber legs.

UPGRADE KIT 2

FOR GEN 2 RUGER AMERICAN RIFLES ONLY

IMPORTANT: This kit is designed exclusively for the Ruger American Gen 2 platform. It is not compatible with Gen 1 rifles.

The Complete Precision Upgrade

If you liked Upgrade Kit 1, you'll love Upgrade Kit 2.
Rather than reinventing the wheel, we took what we already liked about the KRG Bravo setup and addressed two additional areas where we felt the Ruger American Gen 2 could benefit: trigger control and shooter interface.
The result is a rifle that's more comfortable to shoot, easier to shoot consistently, and capable of extracting even more performance from an already impressive platform.

KIT 2 COMPONENTS

  • Timney Gen 2 Two-Stage Trigger
  • WieBad KRG Bravo Cheek Pad

TIMNEY GEN 2 TWO-STAGE TRIGGER

  • Adjustable pull weight
  • Two-stage design
  • Crisp, repeatable break
  • Designed specifically for the Ruger American Gen 2
  • Drop-in installation

WIEBAD KRG BRAVO CHEEK PAD

  • Improved cheek weld
  • Multiple color options
  • Increased comfort during extended shooting sessions
  • Improved consistency behind the optic
  • Designed specifically for the KRG Bravo chassis

ALLY MUNITIONS NOTES

This is probably our favorite overall Ruger American package.
The KRG Bravo already gives you an outstanding foundation, but adding the Timney Gen 2 Two-Stage Trigger and WieBad Cheek Pad takes the shooter interface another step.
The Timney was the first two-stage trigger we tested extensively for the Gen 2 Ruger American, and we were immediately impressed. The smooth first stage, defined wall, and crisp second-stage break provide outstanding control whether you're hunting or shooting from the bench.
We're also firm believers that a properly fitted rifle is easier to shoot well.
The WieBad cheek pad creates a more consistent cheek weld and improves comfort during long range sessions or extended days in the field.
Combined with the KRG Bravo, these upgrades give the Gen 2 Ruger American a substantially more refined feel while maintaining the rugged characteristics that made the platform so popular.

UPGRADE KIT 3

MAGPUL HUNTER LITE PACKAGE

IMPORTANT: This kit is designed ONLY for Ruger American Short Action rifles utilizing AICS-pattern magazines.
It is NOT compatible with Ruger American rifles that utilize AR-15-pattern magazines.

Lightweight. Modern. Built for the Hunt.

Not everyone wants a full chassis system.
Some hunters simply want a rifle that's lighter, easier to carry, and more ergonomic while maintaining the traditional feel of a hunting stock.
That's exactly what Upgrade Kit 3 is designed to provide.
Built around the Magpul Hunter Lite Stock, this package transforms the Ruger American into a lightweight, capable hunting rifle while maintaining the precision-oriented features today's shooters expect.
Compared with previous generations, the Hunter Lite is over 20% lighter, resulting in a rifle that carries easier during long days in the field without sacrificing rigidity or consistency.
Whether you're chasing predators, whitetails, hogs, or spending an afternoon on the range, the package offers an excellent balance between portability and precision.

KIT 3 COMPONENTS

  • Magpul Hunter Lite Stock
  • Magpul AICS 5-Round Magazine
  • 5-Slot M-LOK Picatinny Rail

MAGPUL HUNTER LITE SPECIFICATIONS

  • Approximately 2.5 pounds
  • Over 20% lighter than previous Magpul Ruger American stocks
  • Aluminum V-Bedding System
  • Reinforced steel bedding pillars
  • Adjustable length of pull
  • AICS-pattern magazine compatible
  • Ambidextrous magazine release
  • Integrated M-LOK slots on the forend
  • Front and rear sling swivel studs
  • Rugged reinforced polymer construction
  • Snag-resistant exterior
  • Made in the USA

ALLY MUNITIONS NOTES

The Hunter Lite quickly became one of our favorite hunting stocks for the Ruger American platform.
Magpul managed to reduce weight without making the stock feel flimsy or compromising rigidity. In fact, we believe it's a significant improvement over previous generations.
The slimmer profile carries exceptionally well in the field, shoulders naturally, and balances nicely whether you're shooting offhand, from shooting sticks, a tripod, or prone.
The aluminum V-bedding system provides a solid foundation for the action, while the adjustable comb and length of pull allow you to tailor the rifle to your body and optic setup.
We've also included a 5-slot M-LOK Picatinny rail, giving you immediate capability to mount a bipod or other accessories without purchasing additional hardware.
If you're looking for a lightweight hunting rifle that still offers modern features and excellent ergonomics, this package is hard to beat.

HUNTER LITE COMPATIBILITY

Compatible with:

  • Ruger American Gen 1
  • Ruger American Gen 2
  • Short Action rifles
  • AICS-pattern magazine configurations
  • Right- and Left-Hand rifles
    Not Compatible With:
  • Ruger American rifles utilizing AR-15-pattern magazines

ARC COMPATIBILITY NOTES

We've spent considerable time testing both .22 ARC and 6mm ARC in the Ruger American platform.
While we've achieved encouraging results using AICS-pattern magazines, we're not officially recommending ARC magazine configurations in this package at this time. Additional long-term testing is still underway.
For traditional short-action cartridges such as:

  • .308 Winchester
  • 6.5 Creedmoor
  • .243 Winchester
  • 6 Creedmoor
  • .22 Creedmoor
…the Hunter Lite has performed exceptionally well throughout our testing.

INDIVIDUAL RUGER AMERICAN UPGRADES

Not every Ruger American needs a complete upgrade kit.
Many shooters simply want to improve one area of the rifle, whether that's the trigger, magazine system, stock, or another accessory. That's why we also offer many of the same components individually.
Every product in this section has earned its place through real-world use. If we haven't personally tested it, hunted with it, or spent significant time evaluating it, you won't find it here.
Our goal isn't to offer the biggest selection.
Our goal is to offer the right selection.

TIMNEY GEN 1 TRIGGER

Adjustable Single-Stage Flat Trigger

IMPORTANT: Designed for Ruger American Gen 1 rifles only.
The Timney Gen 1 Adjustable Single-Stage Trigger remains our favorite trigger upgrade for the original Ruger American platform.
While the factory trigger is certainly usable, the Timney offers a dramatic improvement in feel, consistency, and overall shootability. The flat trigger shoe promotes consistent finger placement, while the adjustable pull weight allows shooters to tune the trigger to their individual preference.
The break is crisp, clean, and predictable—exactly what we look for in both a hunting and precision rifle.

Ally Munitions Notes

If you own a Gen 1 Ruger American and only plan to upgrade one component, we'd strongly recommend starting with the trigger.
It's one of the easiest upgrades to install and one of the biggest improvements you'll immediately notice every time you pull the trigger.

TIMNEY GEN 2 TRIGGER

Adjustable Two-Stage Trigger

IMPORTANT: Designed for Ruger American Gen 2 rifles only.
The Timney Gen 2 Adjustable Two-Stage Trigger is our preferred trigger upgrade for the second-generation Ruger American platform.
The smooth first stage transitions into a well-defined wall, followed by a crisp second-stage break that offers outstanding control whether you're hunting, shooting from the bench, or engaging targets at extended distances.
It gives the rifle a much more refined feel while maintaining the reliability we'd expect from a field rifle.

Ally Munitions Notes

This was the first two-stage trigger we tested extensively in the Gen 2 Ruger American, and it immediately became our favorite.
It offers excellent control without being overly light for hunting applications, and after spending time behind it, it's difficult to go back to the factory trigger.
If you're serious about improving your Gen 2 Ruger American, this is one of the most impactful upgrades available.

ADDITIONAL RUGER AMERICAN UPGRADES

Our Ruger American lineup will continue to grow as we evaluate new products and complete long-term testing.
Future additions may include:

  • Additional chassis systems
  • Lightweight hunting stocks
  • Precision stocks
  • Magazine options
  • Scope bases and rings
  • Bubble levels
  • Bipods
  • Slings
  • Muzzle devices
  • Cerakote packages
  • Complete rifle setup packages
  • Additional upgrade kits
As products complete our testing process and earn our recommendation, they'll be added here.
We don't sell products simply because they're popular.
We recommend products because they've proven themselves.

WHY WE TEST BEFORE WE RECOMMEND

One thing you'll notice throughout the Ally Munitions website is that we don't recommend products based solely on manufacturer specifications or marketing claims.
Every upgrade we offer has been installed, tested, and evaluated on real rifles under real-world conditions.
We've hunted with them. We've carried them through the field. We've shot them suppressed and unsuppressed. We've tested them with our ammunition. We've identified what works, what doesn't, and where each product excels.
Our goal isn't to sell you the most parts.
Our goal is to help you build a Ruger American that's reliable, practical, and tailored to the way you shoot.
Whether you're purchasing a complete upgrade kit or a single component, these are products we've trusted on our own rifles before recommending them for yours.
