PWS H2, H3, H4 Carbine Buffer Weights
When reliability matters, Primary Weapons Systems (PWS) H2, H3, and H4 carbine buffer weights are our top choice. Designed for shooters who demand durability and performance, these buffers feature precision-machined cuts that help shed dirt and debris—ideal for those who actually run their gear in real-world conditions.
Buffer Weight Options:
-
H2 – 4.4 oz
-
H3 – 5.1 oz
-
H4 – 6.8 oz
Why We Recommend PWS Buffers:
✅ Superior Performance – Helps smooth out recoil impulse and enhance reliability
✅ Debris-Shedding Design – Machined cuts keep grit from affecting function
✅ Built for Hard Use – Engineered for serious shooters who demand the best
Choosing the Right Buffer for Your Build
We’ve often said that when building 6.5 Grendel, 6 ARC, or .22 ARC, it's always good practice to keep a couple of different buffers on hand to fine-tune your rifle for optimal performance.
-
For non-suppressed or flow-through suppressors, we typically start with H2 and H3.
-
For traditional baffled suppressors, H3 and H4 are usually our go-to choices.
Now, this isn’t gospel—there are plenty of variables at play—but these are solid starting points. When dialing in a rifle, we always carry a buffer weight that’s one step lighter than what we’re running. If any cycling issues arise, swapping it out eliminates a variable quickly and tool-free, right in the field.
We’ve also seen that while tuning for the softest recoil impulse is great, it doesn’t always hold up in extreme temperature swings with factory ammo. A quick buffer weight swap often fixes the issue immediately without any hassle.
Why Buffer Selection Matters for ARC & Grendel Builds
Selecting the correct buffer weight for your ARC or Grendel build isn't just about tuning the recoil impulse—it directly impacts how the rifle feels under fire and plays a critical role in bolt longevity. Running too light of a buffer can overstress the bolt and shorten its lifespan, while a properly weighted buffer helps control cycling forces and improves durability over time.
Upgrade your rifle’s recoil impulse and extend your bolt life with the right PWS buffer weight.
