Products and Systems We Actually Use

We clean a lot of firearms.
Between ammunition development, testing, evaluation, hunting, and maintaining the rifles we use every week, firearm maintenance has been a regular part of what we do at Ally Munitions for a long time.
Over the years, we've used a lot of different cleaning products and developed our own routines and favorite tools along the way. Due to customer demand, we're going to start making some of those products and systems available through Ally Munitions Gun Care & Cleaning Kits.
We're starting simple and will continue adding kits as we go. We'll also be working on Ally Munitions cleaning manuals for bolt-action and AR-15 platforms, with videos planned down the road.
These aren't meant to include every cleaning product imaginable. They're built around the products and tools we actually use and have found useful through years of maintaining our own firearms.

Basic Home Bolt Gun Cleaning Kit

The Minimum Entry-Level Home Kit

The Ally Munitions Basic Home Bolt Gun Cleaning Kit is exactly what the name implies: the basic equipment we believe provides a good starting point for maintaining and cleaning a bolt-action rifle at home.
It's not intended to be an enormous do-everything gunsmithing kit. This is our minimum entry-level home cleaning kitbuilt around the basic tools and products we regularly use.

The Chamber Matters

One of the products that has become particularly useful in our cleaning process is the Swab-its Star Chamber Cleaning Swab.
Technically, these are designed for cleaning AR-15 chambers, but we've adopted them for cleaning chambers on all kinds of firearms. In our experience, they work fantastic for chasing out a chamber after the majority of the cleaning process is complete.
The shape of the swab allows the wings to reach areas around the chamber, barrel extension, and behind locking lugs where applicable.
Keep the swab clean and damp while you're using it. They're washable and reusable, which makes them a useful addition to a home cleaning setup.

Ally Munitions Notes

This kit is where we'd start for someone putting together a basic home cleaning setup for a bolt gun.
Cleaning firearms is something we do every week because of the amount of ammunition and firearm testing that takes place at Ally Munitions. Over time, we've settled into products and methods that work well for us without making the process unnecessarily complicated.
The Basic Home Bolt Gun Cleaning Kit represents the minimum equipment we'd want available at home for routine bolt-rifle maintenance.
More comprehensive kits are coming as we continue building out the Ally Munitions Gun Care lineup.

Swab-its Star Chamber Cleaning Swabs

We also offer the Swab-its Star Chamber Cleaning Swabs separately in 3-packs, because they've become one of our favorite chamber-cleaning tools.
While they're technically intended for AR-15 chambers, we've adopted them for use across a variety of firearms. Nothing is perfect, but when we consider ease of use, reusability, and how effectively they reach difficult areas, this is currently our favorite chamber-cleaning solution.
Our normal process is to perform the majority of the firearm cleaning first. We'll then use one swab for deeper chamber cleaning and another to chase the chamber with brake parts cleaner for a final wipe-down.
The goal is simple: we don't want cleaning solution left sitting in the chamber. This method lets us clean the chamber thoroughly and then follow it with a final wipe to remove remaining cleaning solution and debris.
The wings on the swab are particularly useful for reaching into barrel extensions and behind locking lugs where applicable.
They're washable and reusable. Keep them clean and damp during use, wash them when you're finished, and they're ready for the next cleaning.

A Note on Brake Parts Cleaner

One product we use but will not be carrying is non-chlorinated brake parts cleaner.
We use it for blasting and washing away loosened debris and as part of our final cleaning process. It's inexpensive and readily available, so there's simply no reason for us to package and sell it.
If you're following our cleaning process, non-chlorinated is the important part.
