Notes from Ally Munitions

This new Venom has quickly become one of our favorite options for .22 LR plinkers and general range rifles, especially when we’re trying to stay very budget minded.

One of the standout features here is the parallax range, which supports the close-distance engagements you’ll commonly see with .22 LR platforms. At the same time, it still works just fine on larger cartridges.

You don’t get illumination or locking turrets, but you do get a zero stop, which is a big win at this price point.

The glass is appropriate for its class, offering solid clarity and usable low-light performance, but we still lean toward something like the Strike Eagle 3-18 for more dedicated hunting applications.

While some may use this optic for hunting, we see this as being best suited for:

  • Range use

  • Training rifles

  • Cost-effective precision setups

We’ve tested a couple of these since release and have been very pleased with how they perform for the money.

And as always, it’s backed by the Vortex lifetime warranty, which adds a lot of value to a scope in this category.
