We think the Summit Carbon II is a fantastic lightweight glassing tripod.

The fact that it comes with a quality pan head already installed makes it an excellent value and gets you into the field without needing to purchase additional components.

Could you shoot from it?

Absolutely.

In a pinch, it'll certainly get the job done.

That said, we don't recommend it as a dedicated shooting tripod.

The included pan head is purpose-built for smooth glassing rather than precision rifle support, and the Summit Carbon II is designed first and foremost as a lightweight optics tripod. If your primary goal is shooting from a tripod, we'd recommend stepping into one of our dedicated shooting tripod systems instead.

For binoculars and spotting scopes, however, this tripod is outstanding and is one we'd have no hesitation carrying into the field.
